Sjevernoamerički sporazum o slobodnoj trgovini (NAFTA)
U 1993., SAD, Meksiko i Kanada pristali su na smanjivanje trgovinskih prepreka između svojih ekonomija. Formiranje ovog regionalnog trgovinskog područja bilo je predmet kritike mnogih političara u sve tri zemlje. Osobito se strahovalo u SAD-u i Kanadi da će NAFTA dovesti do gubitka poslova na domaćem tržištu zbog jeftinijih lokacija u Meksiku. U godinama koje su slijedile, mnoge studije pokazale su da ekonomski dobici sporazuma prevladavaju nad bilo kakvim gubicima.
