World Youth Day
World Youth Day is a religious event that is celebrated every three years. Open to youths from all around the world, World Youth Day aims to connect young religious people with their contemporaries, all the while deepening their faith, understanding the universality of the church, and committing themselves to Jesus Christ.
The 2011 event is held in Madrid, Spain from Aug 16 to 21. Pope Benedict XVI will also be in attendance. It is estimated that the event will cost around €50 million and will generate an estimated €150 million.
