The Mentalist (September 23 2008-Present)is an American police drama broadcast by CBS and conceived by Bruno Heller. Set in California, the storey follows Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) who is a consultant to the fictional California Bureau of Investigation (CBI). As a former psychic medium he makes use of his keen observation skills and body language expertise to help solve crimes. Yet he has a darker ulterior motive- to find the killer who took his wife and daughter. The show and Simon Baker have recieved a plethora of industry award nominations and in 2010 the series was recognised by the IIG with an award for its 'scientific and critical thinking content'.
