Mine Kafon
A Mine Kafon is a wind-powered device designed to trip landmines as it rolls across the ground. Each ball costs $50 and looks like a starburst, with a 17kg (37lb) iron centre with legs made of bamboo ending with a plastic foot. It is hoped that the device can be used in areas with large amounts of landmines, such as Afghanistan. The Mine Kafon was also selected as a finalist for the 2012 Design of the Year award at the Design Museum in London.
