Did Apple intentionally leave behind the iPhone 5 prototype in a San Francisco bar?

An iPhone 4 prototype that was accidentally left in a Redwood City, California bar last year set out a big web sensation. This year, it's an iPhone 5 prototype recently left in a San Francisco bar. The new iPhone model is expected to be released sometime this fall, possibly in late September or early October. Is this a pure coincidence or is Apple trying to get the prototype out there to gauge market reactions.

I think it might be a clever way to generate some publicity before release. After all, how is it that this news got out? Was it found by a journalist, who thought he'd publicize it? I think it was intentional.
