Muhammad Jusuf Kalla

Muhammad Jusuf Kalla or known as JK is an Indonesian politician, he was also the 10th Vice President of Indonesia. As Jokowi won the 2014 presidential election, automatically JK will be the next vice president.

Jusuf Kalla was born in Watampone, North Sulawesi on 15 May 1942. After graduating from Hassanudin University, He took over his father firm- NV Hadji Kalla (putting aside his political career), in his hand, the business has shown a rapid growth and bit by bit its expanded into different sectors, from export-import trading to other business like hotels, infrastructure contractors, etc.

In 1987, he returned into his political career where he was appointed to be the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), and re-appointed again in the year 1992, 1997, and 1999.

And after 1999, he was appointed by former president Gusdur to become the minister of Industry and trade. In 2001 when new president i.e. Megawati took over the presidency, she appointed JK to be the minister of People's welfare, at the time, conflict of Poso emerged and JK was the one who solve this conflict.

In 2004, he decided to put himself in the presidential election in 2004 ( as the vice president ) together with Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ( Indonesian 5th and 6th president ). And eventually managed to win the election and he became the 10th vice president of Indonesia.

And in 2014, again he was nominated by Golkar Party to be the candidate of vice president accompanying Jokowi. and again they managed to win.
