Copper Beech Farm

Copper Beech Farm is a 51-acre mansion located along the Greenwich waterfront in Connecticut. Named for the large copper beech trees populating the property, the estate occupies 50 acres on Long Island Sound, including two offshore islands, a private beach and a 13,500-square foot Victorian mansion. Reached by way of a 1,800-foot-long driveway, the main house features a three-story paneled entry, a solarium, sleeping porches and an additional 7,000 square feet of attic and basement space. The property also includes many other amenities such as a tennis court, a carriage house, two greenhouses, a swimming pool and a pool house.

The property was listed publicly for sale in 2014 for the first time in more than a century for a price tag of $190 million. Although the final sales price was shy of the original asking price, Copper Beech Farm became the most expensive single-family home ever sold in the U.S. for a recording $120 million.

The mansion was once home to Harriet Lauder Greenway, Andrew Carnegie's niece. After the death of her son in 1981, the property was purchased by timber tycoon John Rudey, who had a portion of the property classified as a forest. The buyer, who purchased the home through a limited-liability company, is unknown.
