Companies or corporations are either privately or publicly held based upon managements and capital intensity. Privately held companies are mostly small and medium scale requiring less capital involvement. In contrast, publicly held companies are big and requiring huge capital investments, majority of which collected through public offering of shares. The share markets managed and regulated by Stock exchanges.
